The June Bank Holiday always brings a wave of ‘Summer Holidays’ feel to it! Thankfully, the fabulous weather has brought smiles to our faces in Kinsale and we hope that it may last over the weekend.
The Belgooly Show is a firm tradition in the calendar on Saturday 4th June. It is a wonderful family day out with a full programme of activity may be enjoyed from early in the morning right through the day.
The Kinsale Point-to-Point Festival on Saturday 4th (first race 5pm) and Sunday 5th June (first race 3pm) is a firm favourite in the Kinsale calendar with great crowds and family entertainment. Don’t forget about the Best Dressed competition on Sunday!
Also, there is plenty of live music in Kinsale hotels, restaurants and bars. The Blue Haven Hotel has released its exciting June music line-up, including the very popular Clem Buckley on Friday night and Sharon Crosbie on Saturday night at 10.30pm.
The Folkhouse and Bacchus also have a great line up with GK Loops on Friday night at 9.30 and DJ Mark in Bacchus from 11.30pm. The White House has Two of a Kind at 9pm this Friday and Mike O’Riordan plays Sam’s Bar. Don’t forget Crosbie’s Piano Bar upstairs at Vista on Fridays – great music, great food and perfect view over the marina.
Jerome Lordan’s Kinsale Harbour Cruise has been busy all week, with super weather and an extended number of tours. Don’t forget that you can hire a boat, paddle board enjoy a RIB ride or do lots of water activities from the pier or at the Dock or Garretstown beaches. See www.kinsale.ie for details of these and many activity summer camps.
Both Dermot Ryan’s Heritage Town Walks and Don & Barry’s Kinsale Historical Stroll are very popular and well worth doing. Charles Fort, Desmond Castle and Kinsale Museum are also open – check Kinsale Tourist Office for times. Kinsale’s shops and galleries are fully stocked and open for business with great souvenir and gift ideas.
After all this activity, you’ll probably need a snack or an ice cream in one of Kinsale’s fantastic selection of restaurants, cafes and bars. The Blue Haven has introduced a lovely afternoon tea menu and Lemon Leaf just opened its new Deli & Bakery last week!
With the warm weather, don’t forget to stock up on your sunscreen! Kinsale Pharmacies all have a wide range of products and the experienced staff are available to help you select the best product.
