Kinsale Remembers 9/11

We remember today all those who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks in 2001. The Kinsale Garden of Remembrance at Ringafinane, just outside the town was established by a Kinsale lady, Kathleen Cait Murphy who worked as a nurse for over 30 years in New York City. A tree was planted for each of the 343 firemen who died as well as one for their chaplin Father Michael Judge who was a personal friend of hers.

9/11 and the Kinsale Garden of Remembrance will be highlighted in Dermot Ryan’s Kinsale Heritage Walks, leaving from the Tourist Office at 10.30am every morning this week.

His Excellency, Kevin O Malley, US Ambassador to Ireland with Virgil Horgan, Kinsale, cousin of Cait Murphy of the 9/11 Remembrance Garden, Ringfinan.
