2019 Sovereigns Cup Is Coming To Kinsale

Kinsale Yacht Club is looking forward to welcoming 100+ entries for the O’Leary Life Sovereigns Cup 26 – 29 June 2019. This year it incorporates the 1720 European Championships, the Irish Dragon National Championships and the Irish Half Ton Cup.

There are 2 races per day spread across the various fleets which will be sailed in the waters between the Old Head of Kinsale and the Sovereign Islands. The only exception to this is the Coastal Fleet who will be sailing long races ranging from the Daunt Rock to the east and west around the Old Head and across Courtmacsherry Bay.

Kinsale is the perfect venue for the event which has always been very well supported by visitors from all over Ireland, UK and beyond and 800 – 1000 visitors are expected this year.

Having the marina in the centre of town is an important asset to Kinsale, as it is only a short stroll from the wide variety of shops, cafes, restaurants and accommodation, with prices to suit every pocket. Family and friends of the sailors will have 4 days to explore the colourful streets of Kinsale town and all that it has to offer.

Events of this magnitude would not be possible with sponsors and Kinsale Yacht Club is very grateful for the support of O’Leary Life, Dubarry, Old Head Links Course and Cork County Council.
