Buy the very best produce online, direct from your local farmers and food producers
Neighbourfood’s mission has always been to connect and support our local food producers and promote our region’s abundant produce. The interdependence of these systems and the health of our community of farmers, growers and artisan food producers is more important now than ever and in the midst of all this uncertainty, the mission has never felt so vital.
Easy and safe access to good food is what we all need right now, Neighbourfood market has always had the goal of having the fewest possible people handling produce- the fundamental idea is groceries come directly from producers to the customer, the market operates as a contact free shopping experience. For those not venturing out home delivery is now available at the Kinsale market within a 7km radius.
The website’s shopping page offers the finest farmer’s market fare with a range of vegetables, fruit, real bread, cheeses, dairy produce, meat, poultry, confectionery, craft beer, natural wines and more. Customers collect their pre-paid order at a specific time from a designated host ‘market’. In Kinsale the market is hosted by OHK Cafe, we’re lucky that we have been steadily building the market here at OHK for the past 8 months, we have over 40 suppliers on the Neighbourfood Kinsale directory and a great team in place operating the market and working hard now to respond to sudden spike in demand. As well as our Thursday collection day we have now added a second market day on Monday to keep up with demand and as the market continues to grow we are so fortunate to have found a new temporary home at Hamlets Bar across the street! Ciarán Fitzgerald of The Blue Haven has literally put the Neighbour into Neighbourfood by offering us use of Hamlets Bar and we are so grateful – it allows us to safely increase our capacity while keeping in line with the current social distancing policies. Our collections are also managed, pick-up times are staggered and separate packing areas are designated for each customer – everyone is reminded to bring their own bags/boxes.
We’d really love and encourage as many people to join the kinsale market and shop locally where you can during these uncertain times! the Neighbourfood mission has been to serve local communities through food and conscious food choices which has taken on an even deeper and more immediate meaning right now.
