Beneath the Bastion: Special Guided Tours at Charles Fort

Discover a hidden side of Charles Fort with “Beneath the Bastion”, a special guided tour exploring the secret interior areas of the historic Charles Bastion.

Delve deeper into this vast and often unseen part of the fort, while hearing tales of cannon fire, siege warfare and perhaps even a ghostly story or two. Explore the remarkable military and architectural features hidden within one of Kinsale’s most iconic landmarks.

Please note that the tour includes uneven terrain, low lintels, cobblestones, ramps and confined areas with limited interior lighting. Suitable footwear is essential, and bringing a torch is recommended.

This is a free event, but places are limited to approximately 30–35 people per tour. Pre-booking is essential and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
