Kinsale the Start / Finish point for the Wild Atlantic Way
Set to be the longest defined coastal touring route in the world, the Wild Atlantic Way that will be officially launched in March 2014, will promote the stunning coastal environment and natural landscape along the 2,500km route.
The Wild Atlantic Way is due to attract many thousand visitors from all over the world as they choose to do the whole route or parts of it, with a view to returning to Ireland again and again.
Kinsale has been designated the Starting point of the Wild Atlantic Way, taking in the stunning West Cork and Kerry coastline, following north up the western seaboard taking in more spectacular scenery and finishing Inishowen in Co.Donegal or vice versa, starting in Inishowen and finishing in Kinsale – whichever way you look at it!
Here in Kinsale, we’re considering ourselves the Start, as we have excellent access from Rosslare and Cork Ferryports, Cork International Airport and of course the direct N7/N8 motorway from Dublin.
Also, it was pointed out recently by a motorcycle group that they will be starting in Kinsale and working their way north as they prefer to benefit the best coastal views, given they will be driving on the left!
Signposting of the route is near completion and we are now promoting Kinsale as part of the Wild Atlantic Way. As well as the dramatic Old Head of Kinsale, we are reinforcing all our fantastic water sports and activities, dining, shopping, galleries and historical viewing points and tours. Details of Kinsale Chamber members offering these services may be found on this website.
